Continue your drive to Odense, a small city renowned as the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen. Head to the historic Quarter and the house where the famous writer was born. You can explore the Hans Christian Andersen Museum which features the poet’s life and work. Also commemorating the writer is the beautiful Hans Christian Andersen’s Garden in the Town Centre. Relax here and admire the river views while you enjoy a cooling ice cream. Your next stop is the Saint Knuds Kirke, which offers a fabulous look at the history of the town. Learn how it is the Cathedral of King Canute the Holy, who became a martyr in 1086 and visit his tomb which is in the crypt.
Time for something totally weird and offbeat! Drive to the Den Smagløse Café, it is decorated with old radios, lamps, old yellow newspapers and junk-shop pieces. Be awed by the collages of dolls’ body parts and the crazy Pölşeũm, a museum displaying bottled sausages.
