The Mini Countryman’s Variants
The Countryman comes with five different 1.6-liter four-cylinder engines, including three petrol and two turbodiesel engines, branded as the Mini One D, Mini One, Mini Cooper, Mini Cooper D and Mini Cooper S.
Being the top of the line, the Mini Cooper S Countryman reaches 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds thanks to the direct injection, twin-scroll turbocharged engine, with 184 bhp and 177 ft-lb of torque, with an impressive top speed of 214 km/h. Six-speed manual transmission is standard, with automatic also available, handling is good and steering is well weighted. All are available with 2 or 4 wheel ‘All4’ drive, allowing minimal off-road and rugged terrain driving.
Generous Inner Space
The Countryman has a longer wheelbase offering more interior room and higher ground clearance than the Clubman. Mini’s first five-door car also has a useable boot and is offered as either a four-seater, with two adjustable rears and masses of elbow room, or as a practical, yet still spacious five seater. It may be a mini by name, but not by dimensions.
Whilst retaining its essential characteristics that are totally Mini, this car aims to offer a practicable solution to the challenges of modern life. As Mini say, the Countryman cuts a dash in country and in town, and this car is a great all round family car.
