Tuscany Road Trip
From Florence, Italy
Food & Wine-Lover’s Delight
If you want to get out on the open road and you have a week or so to spare, hop in your Nissan GT-R and explore the 290-km journey that starts and ends back in Florence. This itinerary gives you the opportunity to enjoy all of the best eateries, vineyards, cafes and bistros that are in this well-known region.
Start in the city of Florence where you’ll find any wine or food you desire. Have dinner in a luxurious, fine-dining setting or keep it casual at a lounge bar. Your next stop will be in Pontassieve where you can find some authentic pasta dishes and amazing pizza pies. You might even want to visit the Nipozzano Castle where you can relax with your glass of Frescobaldi wine.
Then, follow the SR 70 road eastwards to Poppi. This spectacular drive is just what you need to unwind and relax. Many of the establishments in this area are quite high-class, so it’s the perfect time to show off your impeccable style. Then, continue south on SR 70 until you reach Arezzo. This town is best explored on foot, so park your car and get out for some fresh air. Visiting the local sites is sure to build your appetite and that’s good because you’ll find plenty of Italian cuisine in the area. If you want some low-key dining, try out a Panini instead.
The next stop will be in Siena which features the Biblioteca Piccolomini, the Siena Cathedral and the Piazza del Campo. This area has some amazing cafes, so be sure to stick around for breakfast. Heading north, you’ll end up in Chianti which features the old Church of Saint Saviour. Indulge your senses with some true Italian comfort food. Then, head west to Colle di Val d’Elsa and San Gimignano before heading back to Florence.
Spending all this time in the countryside might even make you miss the busy city life. Thankfully, you have your luxurious Nissan rental to finish doing some exploring before your vacation is over.
